More Info:
A vastly underrated singer, Dublin-born ROSE BRENNAN might perhaps have become a major star had she gone solo, rather than remaining an ensemble band singer with Joe Loss & his Orchestra. After recording prolifically with Loss during the early 50s, she cut a handful of mainstream Pop records, enjoying a UK hit in 1961 with the self-penned 'Tall Dark Stranger', a song which sounded as though it might have come from the soundtrack of a John Ford western. Rose quit the Joe Loss Orchestra in the mid-60s, thus terminating a singing career which seems annoyingly "incomplete". This set runs the gamut of her recording career, from her earliest 78s with Joe Loss in 1952; and as far as we know, it is the very first dedicated Rose Brennan compilation. Many of these sides are taken from original 78rpm and 45rpm releases, and have never previously been available in the digital format.back to top
